Aluminum alloy hub manufacturing method
There are three methods for manufacturing aluminum alloy wheels: gravity casting, forging, and low-pressure precision casting.
1. Gravity casting method Gravity is used to cast the aluminum alloy solution into the mold. After the forming, it is polished by a lathe to complete the production. The manufacturing process is relatively simple, no precise casting process is required, the cost is low and the production efficiency is high, but bubbles (blisters) are easily generated, the density is not uniform, and the smoothness of the surface is not sufficient. Geely has quite a number of models equipped with wheels that are produced by this method, mainly the early production models. Many new models have been replaced with new ones.
2. Forging method The whole aluminum ingot is directly extruded by a 10,000-ton press on the mold. The advantages are uniform density, smooth and detailed surface, thin hub and light weight, high material strength, more than 30% higher than the casting method, but Due to the need for more sophisticated production equipment, and the production rate is only 5 to 60%, the manufacturing cost is higher.
3. Low-pressure precision casting method Precision casting at a low pressure of 0.1 MPa. This casting method has good formability, clear outline, uniform density and smooth surface. It can not only achieve high strength and light weight, but also can control the cost and the yield. More than 90% is the mainstream manufacturing method for high-quality aluminum alloy wheels.
