Cylinder block cooling method

In order to ensure that the cylinder surface can work normally at high temperatures, the cylinder and cylinder head must be cooled at any time. There are two cooling methods: one with cooling liquid (water cooling) and the other with air cooling (air cooling).

More water is used on the car engine. When the engine is cooled by water, there is a cavity filled with coolant in the cylinder and in the cylinder head, called the water jacket, and the water jacket on the cylinder block and the cylinder head are connected to each other.

When the engine is cooled by air, a number of fins are cast on the outer surface of the cylinder block and the cylinder head to increase the heat dissipation area and ensure sufficient heat dissipation. Generally, the cylinder of the air-cooled engine is separately cast from the crankcase.
