Engine cleaning step
1. Remove the engine cover
Many models are designed with plastic decorative covers for the aesthetics of the engine compartment. To clean thoroughly, we first need to remove the plastic cover. Generally, the plastic cover is fixed by a clip, and the sides of the plastic decorative cover are grasped by hand, and can be removed by lifting upwards.
After removing the plastic cover, you can see the main body of the engine. If you use a car that has been around for a few years, you will find it is much more dirty than a plastic cover. There will be some sludge near the cylinder head cover or the oil filler port. It is too much work to wash away these things with water.
2, simple dust removal with a brush
Use a brush to perform simple dust removal on the engine compartment. It should be reminded that if it is a vehicle that has just been driven, it should be cooled for about 5 minutes and then cleaned with a cleaning agent.
3, spray engine surface cleaning agent
Spray the engine surface cleaning agent on the various components in the engine compartment. The place with a lot of sludge should be treated with great care. The spraying distance should be used. Generally, it can be sprayed about 15 cm.
note! Some parts of the engine compartment are to avoid water or cleaning agents, including ignition coils, fuse boxes, distributors and cylinder joints, and ECU driving computers. It is best to cover it with plastic cloth in advance and waterproof it. These parts can be cleaned separately. It is recommended to spray the cleaning agent on a piece of cloth and wipe them.
4, carefully cleaned with a brush
Where the oil sludge is thicker, it can be washed with a small brush while spraying the cleaning agent, and the effect of the sludge opening is obvious. Pay attention to the gaps in the engine compartment, you must be patiently brushed, because after the washing, you should spray the curing agent, if you can not clean the dirty things and stay inside.
The engine intake pipe is usually made of plastic material, which is easy to stick to the sludge and is not easy to clean. It needs to be extra careful. In addition, the intake manifold and other pipelines need to be cleaned to prevent oil and other dirt from corroding them and causing leakage. Finally, don't forget to wash the plastic cover that has just been removed with a cleaning agent!
5, wait about 5 minutes
After getting it with a brush, wait 2-5 minutes for the detergent to continue to “eat” the sludge until it completely collapses.
6, wash with clean water
The cleaning agent will adhere to the various parts of the engine compartment after disintegrating the sludge, so rinse them with clean water before they are air-dried. If you are inexperienced or do not know much about the engine construction, try not to use a high pressure water gun to rinse. It is recommended that you use small equipment, such as a mineral water bottle or a small watering can with watering flowers, to ensure more precise movements, no splashes and no flaws.
Just in case, you can do some precautions before cleaning with water: start the vehicle to keep idle. It can prevent the key parts such as the ignition coil from splashing water and cause difficulty in starting for a short time. Secondly, when the engine is running, the temperature of the body will rise, which can accelerate evaporation and dry.
7, blow dry or dry
After thorough cleaning, be sure to clean the water in the engine compartment. If you have the conditions, it is best to use an air gun to dry it. You can also dry the parts of the engine compartment with a suede or a cloth with good water absorption (preferably without a towel, it will lose hair), and then let it dry completely. dry.
8, extra points process - wire harness care agent
In fact, in the seventh step, the work of cleaning the engine compartment has been completed. But if you want to make the engine compartment brighter, it is best to use a wire harness to protect it. The method of use is also very simple. After the cleaned engine is completely dried, the wire harness is evenly sprayed on the various parts of the engine compartment. All right. Harness care agents prevent the accumulation of sludge, slow down the aging of harnesses and the chances of spontaneous combustion of older models, and make the engine look like a new one.
