Type of wheel rim
There are two main forms of wheel rim: deep groove wheel rim and flat bottom wheel rim; in addition, there are split wheel rim, semi deep groove wheel rim, deep groove wide wheel rim, flat wide wheel rim and full bevel rim. .
1.Deep groove wheel rim
The rim is integral and has a deep groove in the middle of the section. Mainly used in cars and light off-road vehicles. It has a flange with a shoulder for placing the bead of the tire. The shoulder is usually inclined slightly to the middle, and the inclination angle is generally 4 to 6 degrees. The maximum diameter of the inclined portion is called the tire bead and the rim. Combined diameter. The middle part of the section is made into a deep groove to facilitate the disassembly and assembly of the tire. The deep trough wheel has a simple structure, high rigidity and small mass, and is most suitable for a small-sized elastic tire. However, larger and harder tires are difficult to fit into such an overall rim.
2. Flat bottom wheel rim
There are many structural forms of such rims, and Figure 3 shows a form commonly used in trucks in China. The retaining ring 1 is integral, and an open elastic locking ring 2 is used to prevent the retaining ring from coming off. When installing the tire, first place the tire on the rim, then put the retaining ring on it and push it inward until it passes over the annular groove on the rim, and then insert the elastic locking ring of the opening into the annular groove.
Both the Dongfeng EQ1090E and the Liberation CA1091 car wheels use this type of rim.
3. Split wheel rim
The rim is composed of two parts, inner and outer, and the width of the inner and outer wheels can be equal or different, and the two are bolted together. When disassembling the tire, remove the nut. The retaining ring is detachable. Some have no retaining ring, and the inner rim is welded to the web by the action of the rim formed integrally with the inner rim instead of the retaining ring. The Dongfeng EQ2080 and Yanan SXZ15O car wheels use this form of wheel rim.
Since the wheel rim is the basis for the assembly and fixing of the tire, when the tire is loaded with a different wheel rim, the position and size of the deformation also change. Therefore, it is best to use the standard wheel rim for each type of tire and, if necessary, a wheel rim with a similar size to the standard tire. If the wheel rim is not properly selected, it will cause early damage to the tire, especially if it is used in a narrow wheel rim.
