Most motorcycle outer coverings are made of ABS plastic products (especially scooters), which are beautiful in appearance and exude a strong modern flavor. However, after some motorcycles are used for a long period of time, the paint film on the outer surfaces directly exposed to strong light will often appear to be cracked (such as the head of the scooter, the upper part of the tail box and both sides).
The main factors affecting the cracking of the paint film of ABS plastic products are improper selection of casting molding process parameters, failure to carry out strict treatment before painting and improper use. But in the process of use, preventive measures should also be taken to maintain.
The winter temperature in most parts of our country is below 0℃, the temperature in some northern parts is -20℃, and the lowest temperature in some areas is -35℃. The use of motorcycles under low temperature conditions may cause difficulty in starting the engine, increased fuel consumption, and increased wear and tear of mechanical parts. If maintenance is not performed properly, the outer covering parts of the motorcycle will also cause great damage. If the motorcycle is parked in the open air below 0℃ for a long time, cracks will occur in the entire depth of the ABS plastic parts, and it will be brittle failure below -40℃. Therefore, motorcycles should be stored indoors as much as possible. When there is no condition to store them outdoors, they should be covered with prefabricated panels to prevent moisture intrusion. It is best to put on motorcycle covers to facilitate heat preservation. It should also be noted that the motorcycle cover should be removed when it is sunny to drive away moisture.
Most areas of our country have strong sunshine in summer, and the temperature on the highway at noon is as high as 40-50℃. Under the action of strong sunlight, strong ultraviolet rays and high heat, ABS plastic products are easy to age and become hard and brittle, causing serious cracking. Therefore, you should avoid leaving the car at noon as much as possible, and store the motorcycle indoors or under the shade of a tree as much as possible when you are not using it. Do not park the motorcycle in strong sunlight for a long time. This will cause the paint film to be too dry and cracked. The effect of the paint film fades and ages. In addition, be careful not to place the car in high temperature places such as stoves, resistance furnaces, and open flames.
Remember to touch, scratch or press hard objects on the painted surface. Because of the impact, the paint film will deform under tension and easily cause cracks.
Avoid prolonged rain. Long-term rain will cause the varnish to swell, age and fall off, becoming a "painted face". After driving in the rain, clean it up in time; when parking the vehicle, it should be placed in a shade that can avoid rain.
Strictly prevent oil pollution. The paint itself is an oil-soluble compound. Although the paint film of the ABS outer cover has certain oil resistance, it will dissolve the paint film over time. Therefore, after refueling or sprinkling of oil, it should be wiped off in time and should not be left alone. The fuel tank cover must be sealed tightly to prevent long-term gasoline spills from aging and discoloration of the local paint film on the surface of the fuel tank and cracking of the paint film on the ABS plastic decorative parts under the mailbox. When scrubbing vehicles, pay attention not to use gasoline, kerosene, diesel and various corrosive detergents to clean the paint surface of ABS plastic products.
Always keep the surface of the ABS outer cover clean, remember to wipe the sludge directly with a cloth, because the soil that falls on the paint film becomes "abrasive" in the wiping of the dry cloth, and the outer surface of the paint film loses luster or cracks . The best way is to rinse with water and dry it in time. The cloth should be soft knitted cloth or cotton yarn.
Use glass coating for maintenance. The function of glass coating not only makes the paint film bright, but more importantly, it can prevent the paint film from aging and cracking, and maintain gloss and flexibility. Due to the different composition of the paint film, a good brand should be selected when using glass coating.
In addition, in the production process of brand-name motorcycles, in order to ensure the inherent quality of ABS plastic decorative parts, they have passed a series of rigorous tests and inspections. Under normal circumstances, there will be no large-scale paint film cracking. Therefore, when buying a motorcycle, you must choose a brand-name model.
