Charge factor ηv overview
The charge factor is an important indicator to measure the performance of different engines and the perfection of the intake process, also known as charge efficiency and volumetric efficiency. It is defined as the ratio of the fresh air mass actually drawn into the cylinder per cycle per cylinder to the theoretical air mass filled with the cylinder working volume in the inlet state.
Ηv=Ma / Ms
Where, Ma is the mass of fresh air actually entering the cylinder; Ms is the air mass theoretically calculated to fill the cylinder working volume in the intake state.
