Definition of linearly polarized light

In the direction of light propagation, the light vector only vibrates in a fixed direction. This kind of light is called plane polarized light. Because the locus of the endpoint of the light vector is a straight line, it is also called linearly polarized light. The plane formed by the direction of the light vector and the direction of light propagation is called the vibration surface. The linearly polarized light's vibration surface is fixed and does not rotate. Most light sources do not emit linearly polarized light but emit natural light. A polarizer is required to obtain linearly polarized light.
