Definition of thermal conductivity

Thermal conductivity, also known as thermal conductivity, reflects the thermal conductivity of a substance. According to Fourier's Law (see Thermal Conduction), it is defined as the amount of heat transferred by a unit temperature gradient (the temperature decreases by 1K over a length of 1 m) over a unit heat conduction surface in a unit time.
