Fuji Heavy Industries is one of the top ten auto companies in Japan. Its predecessor was the Japanese military company Nakajima Flight Co., Ltd., and during the years 1941-1945, Nakajima Aircraft Co., Ltd. produced a total of 19,561 military aircraft and 36,400 aviation engines for the Japanese Sea Army. The output far exceeds the other two major aviation giants in Japan, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (12513 military aircraft, 41,534 aircraft engines) and Kawasaki Airlines (8244 military aircraft, 10,274 aircraft engines). Its R&D and production capacity were in Japanese aviation companies at the time. Second to none.
