Phase and phase transitions definition

A material system in a thermodynamic equilibrium state can be a homogeneous system with the same physical and chemical properties everywhere; it can also be composed of a number of uniform parts with boundaries that are separable, and there are differences in the properties of each part; each A uniform part is called a phase. The former system is called the single-phase system; the latter system is called the complex system. The transitions that occur between different phases are called phase transitions.
